What shall we wear today dear?

I went to go visit the new Nixt twinseys today at the hospital.  They are quite possibly two of the most adorable babies EVER.  I didn't steal them, even though I took my big purse just for that very purpose.  I guess I developed a conscience in that amount of time.  Bummer.  (Watch out Zoe & Colton... I will be back for you.)

While at the hospital I was talking to Jenni, Eric (the proud parents) and Christon & Lesli about how I felt it was inappropriate to dress the twins in matching outfits.  I have always had an issue with matching outfits on family members.  Particularly on twins, but also on married couples.  NOT OKAY.

Well, then while I was on my drive home, I spotted this cute little elderly couple walking down the sidewalk.  He had on gray slacks & a yellow dress shirt with a black vest over it.  She was wearing a gray slacks with a yellow blouse, a yellow visor & a yellow beaded necklace.  I know you are just waiting for me to tell you how annoyed I was by this.  Quite the opposite.  It made me smile.  A really BIG smile.  I couldn't help but think how cute they were.  PLUS, they were holding hands, which only made them more adorable.  I can only hope that Jack will still want to hold my hand when we are that old.

The point of this story is that now my heart is torn.  Is it appropriate to wear a matching outfit?  Is it only cute on the elderly?  And maybe on babies?  What about Jack & I?  Should we start matching?  Okay, I am not really wondering about Jack & I (we will NOT be doing that), but still I am at a crossroads over this issue.

Couples should not match because it's gross. Babies should not match because it's often all ready too hard to tell them apart for the general public. Elderly couples are allowed to match because it's adorable that they take the time to care and love each other enough to do it. However, sisters should not match their clothes. Like when Mom used to make us, if I thought I could upload a photo into this comment the world would have seen what I'm talking about.

I can't help but think that my post was in the back of your mind while you were writing this. Thanks for not calling me out.

When I was study abroad in China, there are these stores called "Lover Stores." Where there are guy and girl versions of the same outfits. When I asked a Chinese friend about these, they explained "if your boyfriend really loves you, he will wear the same outfit as you." Just a thought, that is all.

Pam - Gladly you did not. Although maybe that is blogworthy. Get on it as you have access to the good pics! :)

Katie - Which post? About matching outfits? I don't remember...

Kaci - If they have a website I think you should order matching outfits for you, Ryan, Jack & I. Then we should double date. :)

Okay Katie, I had to go back & look at your blog 'cause I really couldn't remember, but I remember now. You are safe though because you couldn't help it! :)

I think I agree with Pam. Though I do think it's OK to have outfits that compliment eachother in siblings...but maybe only for pictures. LOL :)

That's the only time that our mom really made us do it. Except once we bought the outfit for the picture, there of course came many other opportunities to make us wear them. Leave it to Mom to get the most out of our outfits.

So I just realized you asked me a question. When I wrote Blake's birthday post, I talked about how I was embarrassed all the pictures from that night show us in (more or less) matching shirts. When you wrote about matching two days later, I thought it more than coincidence... turns out I was wrong :)
